Pumpkin Patch

You can't have fall without a pumpkin patch! So we went to Trax Farms last weekend with Justin's parents. I think it was a success and we'll have to go back next year! Here are some pictures.

The boys both loved their pony rides

Tolan had a little help from Grandpap on the trike track

Logan only needed a little help on the turns

They had several huge piles of pumpkins. Great photo-op right? Not with our kids. Climbing on pumpkins was not on their agenda that day. This is about all we got.

Climbing on tractors however, no problem!

This one makes me laugh

On our 3rd hayride of the last couple months - at least this one was not in the rain!

They played on a pirate ship

and went for a train ride - Logan of course, is in the orange barrel! He loves orange.

waiting in line for the train ride. I think the train was their favorite of the day.
These are the pumpkins we did earlier in the week for this year.

I told Logan to draw on some paper what he wanted his pumpkin to look like and I would put it on the pumpkin. He did a great job! It's kind of hard to see, but here's his drawing:

NO MORE BAND-AIDS!!

For the past six weeks or so since Tolan's injury, he's been going around like this:Every other day we would take off the band-aids, rinse with saline, apply the wound powder and put on three new band-aids: 2 criss-crossed over the tip of the finger and one wrapped around his finger.
In-between bandage changes, the band-aids and the finger had to stay dry. So that meant covering with every meal and especially for baths. So he's been taking his baths like this:
Two socks and a baggie held on with an elastic drawstring. I just wash him and get him out before it gets wet. There was no playing in the tub for Tolan.
We were also going to the plastic surgeon for a quick check up every 2 weeks...and I really mean quick - literally 30 seconds (and $25) to say, "looks great. come back in 2 weeks." We went in yesterday for his check-up and his finger was healed enough that we don't need any more band-aids! Yay! Our life just got a lot simpler!
And incase you were wondering, here's how it looks:

It looks pretty good and will probably continue to heal some more and possibly get a little more length as he gets older. We'll just have to see. But we've come a long way!

80's Party

My friend Erin, who I've been friends with since 7th grade, is turning 29 this month and she wanted to kick off the last year of her 20's with a big party - and she chose an 80's Prom theme. We left the kids with Justin's parents for the night and headed up to Kittanning in our 80's gear.

Justin thought the crimped side-pony put it all over the top. He just couldn't get over how ugly my hair was.

This is what Justin was going to wear, until we went to his parents' and he found this:

Love the white shoes! We were brave and went out to dinner on the way to the party. I definitely caught a few people looking us up and down and no doubt, wondering what the heck we were wearing.

And here we are getting our Prom picture (with my eyes closed, as usual).

That's Erin, Prom Queen, on the left, then me, Rosalie and Imogen, who also got dressed up for the party.
Plenty of 80's karaoke

And the Thriller dance
And Justin tried out a couple pieces from Erin's dad's outfit. Nice!
Erin has lots of good sports for friends (and family) b/c everyone at the party except maybe 1 or 2 people were dressed in 80's attire and I think everyone had a great time! Thanks Erin and Happy Birthday!
